Description
Begin with a scenic drive from Kolašin to Biogradska Gora National Park, established in 1878 to protect ancient forests with trees up to 500 years old. Stop at Biogradsko Lake, a glacial lake surrounded by untouched woods. You can row a traditional wooden boat or walk the 3.4-kilometer educational trail around the lake, learning about its rare flora and fauna.
Continue to the Bjelasica Mountain Range, known for its green rolling slopes and volcanic soil, contrasting with Montenegro’s limestone terrain. Hike along mountain trails to traditional Katuns, seasonal huts used by shepherds. Depending on your group’s pace, visit viewpoints overlooking Tara River Canyon and the Durmitor peaks.
Your guide will share local legends and stories of mountain communities as you observe alpine wildflowers and watch for eagles. Before returning to Kolašin, stop at a Katun for a traditional Montenegrin snack of local cheese and organic honey, offering an authentic taste of the region.
