With the altitude of 1895 metres, Orijen is the highest mountain of the Adriatic coast (the highest sub-adriatic mountain of the Dinaric orogenic) with the surface area of 400 km2. The biggest part of the mountain belongs to Montenegro, much smaller part to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the peripheral edge belongs to Croatia. As a very rocky mountain, it's anhydrous although it belongs to one of the rainiest regions in Europe. The mountain is rich with flora and fauna and it is a popular spot for hiking, mountain biking and herbs and mushrooms harvesting. Hiking is recommended with the help of guides because of a large number of dangerous and unmarked paths.
The highest peak of the mountain is Zubački kabal, with an altitude of 1895 metres. It is the highest point of the wreath of coastal Dinarides. This peak is very interesting, not only because of its altitude, lush cover and physical characteristics but also of its historical context.
