Trnovacko Lake
Montenegro is a country of water, very rich with lakes and rivers, and with untouched, wild nature. If you are staying in Montenegro more than a few days, you should definitely find time to visit some of our gorgeous lakes. One of the most beautiful lakes, heart-shaped is called Trnovacko Lake.
Trnovacko Lake is settled in the extreme west-end of Montenegro, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, completely surrounded with mountains: Maglic on the north, Volujak on the south, and also Bioc, Vlasulja and Trnovacki Durmitor.
This is a small mountain lake, with a length of 825 meters, the width of 713 meters, maximum depth of 9 meters. It is also glacial, which means that it freezes during winters.
The lake is located in the Durmitor National Park, in the north-west part of Pluzine at an altitude of 1517 meters above sea level. In the shallow, the water is colourless and very bright. With the increasing of depth, the water is becoming green. Trnovacko lake is very specific and beautiful. We could say it is the most romantic and lovable lake in the country because it has the shape of a heart. That is why so many people dare to try and seek it, even though it is unapproachable by car and hard to find if you are not guided well.
To reach the lake Trnovacko, when you go from Pluzine, you will need about five to six hours by foot, to cross over high mountains and steep paths. But when you get to it, you won’t regret. The absolutely incredible sight that awaits you there, will leave you speechless.
