Winery Garnet
famous Montenegrin wine region in the village of Godinje which is also a part of the Skadar Lake National Park. The stone house where they process and keep their wines is at least five centuries old, surrounded by similar style and age houses, forming the unique settlement that the State of Montenegro has designated as the Heritage Site – Historical Hamlet of Godinje.
They organise wine and food tasting from April until November at the terrace of the
winery next to what used to be the summer house of the Montenegrin Balsic dynasty.
Winery Garnet produces white wine from Chardonnay and rose and red from authentic
Montenegrin Vranac variety. For their guests, they provide an opportunity to try wines and several fruit liqueurs and traditional brandy, but also to pair the beverage with homemade food prepared with locally made ingredients. During the tasting, someone from the family will always be happy to share stories from the family’s history, experiences from the winemaking, or historical facts about the region and Godinje.
Historical Hamlet of Godinje is largely deserted, yet mystic and peaceful. It is
surrounded by narrow creeks and beautiful nature. Just five km away from town
Virpazar which is the center of Skadar Lake National Park’s activities, Godinje is easily
accessible by car, bike, or foot.
If you want to experience the tasting at the Garnet winery, you should make a reservation first, since it is a small family winery and they are having a lot to do at the vineyards.
