OKTOIH Rijeka Crnojevica
Accommodation and Restaurant
Through the history, this was the place which all the rulers of Montenegro liked to visit and it was Ivan Crnojevic's state capital when the Ottoman Empire conquered Zabljak Crnojevica (another beautiful place in this region). Rijeka Crnojevica itself contains the remains of the historical buildings from Crnojevic times, such as the basement of the OBOD pressroom, where the first Cyrillic book was printed. The book's name was OKTOIH.
During the 19th and early 20th century, this was the main port in Montenegro and a leading trade centre, as it is settled on the shores of Skadar Lake. Dynasty Petrovic loved this small town very much, so today we have Danilo's bridge as one of the symbols of Rijeka Crnojevica, which was built by Prince Danilo Petrovic. The oldest building also belongs to Petrovic Dynasty and that's is the House of Saint Peter.
The restaurant Rijecka Gostiona was established in 2012. It has the capacity of 30 places inside and 80 outside, on the terrace. The base of their cuisine is lake fish, but there are few meat options for the ones who don't eat fish. Fish on the menu is always something freshly caught in the river, like carp, eel, perch, trout, but beside this, you can eat chicken, beefsteak, Njegusi steak and pasta carbonara or bolognese. The Chef is willing to satisfy the guests, so anyone can make their own suggestion for the meal.
Besides fish and meat, Rijecka Gostiona offers a wide range of cheese, as well as the homemade ham, made of locally grown pigs. Everything you eat in this restaurant is made out of organic food ingredients, grown in the Skadar Lake region.
Guests who like this place can also stay here, as the Rijecka Gostiona offers accommodation too. With a total of 34 beds in 2 buildings, you can choose in between Lux Villa (which can accommodate up to 8 persons) or another one which is more basic and can accommodate up to 26 persons. Lux Villa has a small spa with the finish sauna and the jacuzzi. Lobby on the ground floor has 110 square metres and an amazing terrace facing the promenade. The other building is done in rustic style with maximum comfort and natural materials - wood and stone. All of the rooms have a view over the river and Danilo's bridge.
