Description
The tour begins with a cruise through the narrow channel connecting Virpazar to the open part of Lake Skadar. On traditional wooden boats, you will experience the lake’s natural environment, spotting water lilies and water chestnuts in season (late July to early August).
Next, the boat passes Lesendro Fortress, built in 1843, providing historical context and scenic views that enhance the journey.
You will then explore the River Morača area, known for its significant biological diversity. This channel supports numerous bird, fish, and plant species, including rare and endangered ones. The Morača channel also hosts one of the largest cormorant colonies in Europe.
The cruise continues through romantic narrow channels to the islands of Mala and Velika Čakovica, bordered by reeds. These islands offer striking landscapes and fields of water lilies, ideal for photography and a peaceful break during the cruise.
The tour concludes with a return to Virpazar, completing a comprehensive and memorable exploration of Lake Skadar.
