Description
Discover the hidden treasures of Bosnia and Herzegovina on a culturally rich and scenic half-day tour from Dubrovnik to the historic town of Trebinje. This immersive experience blends breathtaking landscapes, centuries of history, vibrant local life, award-winning wines, and authentic Herzegovinian cuisine — all just beyond the border.
After pickup from your hotel or apartment in Dubrovnik, enjoy a scenic countryside drive through lush green hills and picturesque valleys before crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our journey begins in Trebinje, a charming town set along the Trebišnjica River. You’ll explore the Old Town (Stari Grad), a beautifully preserved Ottoman-era quarter filled with stone alleys, shaded courtyards, and lively cafés. Nearby, the Green Market (Zelena tržnica) is a true local experience — brimming with seasonal produce, cheeses, honey, and handmade goods.
We’ll then visit the majestic Hercegovačka Gračanica, a stunning Orthodox church perched on Crkvina Hill. Built in 2000 as a replica of the famous Gračanica Monastery in Kosovo, it’s not only a spiritual landmark but also offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Trebinje and its surroundings — including the historic Arslanagića Bridge and the medieval Klobuk Fortress, which we’ll admire from this scenic viewpoint. The site includes a small chapel, bell tower, and a beautifully landscaped park.
A highlight of the tour is the Tvrdoš Monastery, founded in the 15th century, and built atop early Christian foundations. As a spiritual and cultural landmark, it’s also home to one of the country’s oldest wineries. In the tranquil setting of the monastery, you’ll enjoy a wine tasting of local varietals like Vranac and Žilavka, while learning about traditional Orthodox monastic winemaking.
To conclude this journey, we’ll sit down for a traditional meal at Stara Hercegovina or Studenac, two of the region’s top-rated restaurants. Enjoy veal and lamb under the peka, homemade cheeses, smoked meats, seasonal vegetables, and local desserts — all served riverside, in true Herzegovinian style.
