Description
Embark on an intimate journey through time with this carefully curated experience, designed for those who wish to truly absorb the Mediterranean spirit without the rush. Over the course of 90 minutes, your expert guide will lead you through a labyrinth of sun-bleached stone stairs and hidden alleyways, revealing why this town is known as the 'City of Sun, Stairs and Greenery.'
Our journey begins in front of the City Hall, setting the stage for an exploration of local governance and grand architecture. From here, we enjoy a peaceful stroll by the Saint Leopold Mandić Park and pass the legendary City Tavern, a landmark of local social life. We then step onto the historic, stone-paved street that lead us to the bustling heart of the town: Nikola Đurković Square. Here, you will stand beneath the iconic Clock Tower (Sahat Kula), the gateway to the upper old town.
The path continues to the vibrant Belavista Square, where the central fountain, once one of four vital wells and the primary source of drinking water, still stands as a testament to ancient engineering. You will admire the architectural beauty of the Church of Saint Archangel Michael before visiting the Church of Saint Jeronim, notable for its unique, detached bell tower. After paying respects at the Church of Saint Leopold, we reach the tour's crowning jewel: the Forte Mare Fortress. As the literal foundation of the town, this sea-facing sentinel offers breathtaking views of the Adriatic. We conclude our heritage loop by returning to the main square, leaving you perfectly positioned to continue your day in the heart of the city.
