Description
The Old Town of Bar showcases the remains of various civilizations except the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is the largest open-air museum in Montenegro and listed by UNESCO. Old Town Ulcinj reveals the town’s pirate history and the story behind the monument to Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes.
The tour begins at a viewpoint above Valdanos Beach. On the way to Old Town Ulcinj, you will pass one of Montenegro’s most beautiful olive groves. Ulcinj was once a pirate stronghold and featured a slave market, where notable historical figures were traded. Old Town Bar, located 4.5 km inland, was home to around 250 different types of buildings in the past and remains Montenegro’s largest archaeological site.
