The official opening of the Traditional Winter Kotor Carnival Festivities in 2024 begins in Prčanj, with the opening of the Prčanj Carnival. The festivities will be opened by Branko Knezović, the capo of the Kotor Carnival, who will declare the queen of the Carnival and, raising the Carnival flag, give the floor to Ilko Marović, the capo of the Prčanj Carnival. Beginning on February 3rd, the festivities will last until February 25 (March 3rd)
After the burning ceremony, the children's masquerade ball will be held in the House of Freedom, organized by the NGO 'Bope' and the MZ 'Prčanj'. Prizes are provided for the best masks.
The evening program will continue on the city's waterfront with a concert by Adi Šoše from 8 p.m.
Carnival days will also be marked by two parades - Prčanj 'Pašticada' in the Dom Slobode on February 10th, from 7 p.m., after which the evening concert of Stella Rada on the Kotor waterfront is planned, and the Carnival competition gnocada in ŠC 'Kamelija' on February 16th from 7 p.m.
The Children's Masquerade Ball will begin in cooperation with SC 'Kamelija' on February 17th at 5:30 p.m..
The big masquerade ball will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 9 p.m. in P.C. 'Vukšić'. The 'Toć' Ensemble and Clapa Ensemble 'Guests will be entertained by the' Asa Voće.'
The winter carnival festivities will end on Sunday, February 25th, with a big carnival parade, the trial and burning of the krnja - the culprit for all the misfortunes and troubles of the previous year; concerts by local bands - 'Vis Tetra' and Ensemble 'Toć', and the concert of 'Crvena Jabuka', on Trg od oružja. **
The humorous and satirical paper 'Karampana' will be published on the carnival day. The kiosk for delivering the papers is already located at the Stone Kiosk, in front of the main city gate.
The organizer of this traditional event is the JU Cultural Center 'Nikola Đurković' Kotor, the co-organizer is the local Tourist Organization, and the sponsor is the Municipality of Kotor.
** Due to the bad weather conditions, the event planned for Saturday 25th of February, will be postponed to March 3rd.
