Description
Take a guided day trip from Kotor, Budva, Tivat, or Herceg Novi with optional hotel transfers. Experience Montenegro’s picturesque countryside, clear lakes, spectacular coasts, and cultural landmarks including the famous Ostrog Monastery.
The tour starts shortly after leaving Kotor with a photo stop to capture Our Lady of the Rocks and Saint George islands. Next, ascend to a viewpoint above Risan Bay for another photo opportunity.
Continue to Nikšić, Montenegro’s second-largest city, and stop at the artificial Salty Lake for pictures. Take a breakfast break (not included) to enjoy local food and drink.
Drive toward Mount Durmitor through dense pine and deciduous forests. Stop at Đurđevića Tara Bridge, which was Europe’s highest bridge when built in 1940. Walking across the bridge is not permitted from 8 August due to construction work.
Visit the Black Lake in Durmitor National Park, part of a group of 18 glacial lakes known as 'Mountain Eyes'. A 4-kilometer hiking trail circles the lake for those who wish to explore on foot.
Stop at Žabljak, the highest town in the Balkans at 1,450 meters elevation, and enjoy a traditional Montenegrin lunch (not included). The tour continues to Ostrog Monastery, Montenegro’s most visited spiritual site. Ascend the narrow road near sunset to take in views of the monastery and see the relics of monk Vasilije Ostroški.
Return to Kotor at the end of the day.
