Description
This full-day guided trip covers Montenegro’s countryside, departing from Kotor, Budva, Tivat, or Herceg Novi, with optional hotel transfers available. Experience clear lakes, coastal panoramas, the renowned Ostrog Monastery, and more.
The tour begins shortly after leaving Kotor with a photo stop to capture the nearby islands, Our Lady of the Rocks and Saint George. Continue to a higher viewpoint above Risan Bay for another photo opportunity.
Next, visit Nikšić, Montenegro's second-largest city, with a stop at the artificial Salty Lake. Take a breakfast break here (not included) to sample local cuisine.
Proceed toward Mount Durmitor, passing through dense pine and deciduous forests. Stop at the Đurđevića Tara Bridge, built in 1940 and once the highest bridge in Europe. You may choose to cross the 365-meter-long bridge, 172 meters above the canyon floor.
Visit Black Lake, a glacial lake within Durmitor National Park, part of a group of 18 lakes known as the “Mountain Eyes.” Enjoy a 4-kilometer hike around the lake.
Stop in Žabljak, the highest town in the Balkans at 1,450 meters elevation, for traditional Montenegrin lunch (not included). After lunch, travel to Ostrog Monastery, Montenegro’s most visited spiritual site.
Ascend the narrow, winding road near sunset for views of the high-perched monastery. View the relics of monk Vasilije Ostroški, the founder. The tour concludes with a return to Kotor.
