Description
Travel through northern Montenegro on a guided day trip departing from Kotor, Budva, Tivat, Podgorica, or Bar. You will see clear lakes, rugged coasts, and scenic countryside.
The trip begins with a photo stop shortly after departure to capture coastal views, followed by a stop at higher elevations for additional photo opportunities. Continue north towards Mount Durmitor, passing dense pine and colorful deciduous forests.
Stop at Đurđevića Tara Bridge, built in 1940 and once Europe's highest bridge. You may cross the 365-meter-long bridge, 172 meters above the canyon floor, and optionally try the zip line.
Next, visit Durmitor National Park’s Black Lake, one of 18 glacial lakes above 1,500 meters called the 'Mountain Eyes.' Hike the 4-kilometer trail around the lake and enjoy optional kayak rentals (kayak fees not included).
Finish with a stop at Žabljak, the highest town in the Balkans at 1,450 meters altitude, where food is available at your own expense.
Itinerary
- 08:30 AM - Departure from Old Town Kotor, Budva, or Tivat
- 11:00 AM - Arrival at Žabljak
- 12:00 PM - Visit Black Lake (optional kayak rental, tickets 8 EUR not included)
- 14:00 PM - Stop at Đurđevića Tara Bridge (optional zipline, coffee or lunch)
- 15:30 PM - Return via Mojkovac or same route depending on road conditions
Stops for photos or rest can be made anytime during the trip.
