Description
The tour begins in Kotor, traveling along the coast through Jaz beach, Budva, and Sveti Stefan Island before reaching Skadar Lake. Arriving in Virpazar, a small town on the lake's shore, you will enjoy a boat ride with snacks including local pastries with honey and non-alcoholic drinks.
Your guide will explain the ecological importance of the area, protected under the RAMSAR Convention as one of Europe's key wetlands. The lake is home to over 250 bird species nesting among water lilies and reeds. During the boat trip, you will pass small islands topped by abandoned fortresses, adding historical interest to the natural surroundings.
After the boat ride, visit the Skadar Lake National Park visitor center to see an exhibit on Montenegrin wildlife. The tour then continues to a local winery, where you will tour the vineyards and wine cellar, learn about the wine-making process, and taste four types of wine alongside five varieties of local fruit brandy.
