Description
Begin the tour at the main gate, also known as the Sea Gate, leading to Armory Square, the town’s main square. Here you will see the four-century-old clock tower and the medieval pillory where verdicts were announced and prisoners held.
Continue to the 14th-century Bizanti family palace, passing Beskuća Palace with its Gothic portal along the way. Then walk to Flour Square, home to the Pima and Buća Palaces.
The Cathedral of Saint Tryphon is the main attraction on this route, constructed between 1124 and 1166. Nearby religious sites include the Church of St. Luke, built in 1195 modeled after medieval Serbian churches, and St. Nicholas Church, located on the site of a former Dominican monastery dating from 1540.
