Description
Meet in Park Slobode, a five-minute walk from Kotor’s Old Town. Board a speedboat for a 55-minute panoramic ride along the Bay of Kotor coast. Pass charming villages featuring palaces, houses, and churches while enjoying the striking contrast between the sea and mountains.
Bay of Kotor is one of the deepest and longest bays on the Adriatic Sea, often called Europe’s southernmost fjord. Early in the tour, admire Kotor Old Town’s ancient city walls extending 4.5 kilometers up Saint Giovanni’s hill, with some sections up to fifteen meters thick and twenty meters high.
The route continues along both sides of the bay: Muo, Prčanj, and Stoliv on the left; Dobrota, Perast, and the Verige strait on the right. Verige is the narrowest part, around 300 meters wide, separating the inner and outer gulfs. Nearby is the Church of Our Lady of Angels on the left side of Verige.
Further on, enjoy views of Lepetani town and the Luštica peninsula. Arrive at the Blue Cave for a 20-minute swim in turquoise water. The Blue Cave is a large natural cave approximately 300 square meters in area, with 25-meter-high arches and water depths of three to four meters. Its distinctive blue color results from light refraction inside the cave.
On return, visit the old submarine tunnel cut into the Luštica coastline. Built during Yugoslavia, these tunnels served to hide and repair submarines and ships. The tunnel is roughly 50 meters long, 7 meters wide, and about 8 meters deep inside, with depths reaching 30 meters near the exit.
End the tour with panoramic views of the artificial island Our Lady of the Rocks. According to legend, the island formed after fishermen discovered an icon of Our Lady with Christ on a rock in 1452. Citizens built the island by throwing stones and old shipwrecks into the sea. Every year since 1452, locals hold the Fašinada procession, carrying stones by boat to enlarge the island. The chapel and the town of Perast are visible and accessible for visitors.
