Description
The Martinići Donkey Farm is Montenegro’s first and only donkey farm, established to protect donkeys from extinction while preserving cultural heritage. Visitors can feed, groom, and play with the donkeys, learning about their nature and traditional significance.
The farm includes a Donkey Museum showcasing the species’ importance in rural life, where donkeys were once essential for village households. Educational programs explain their diet, breeding, and heritage.
Special programs support children with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, promoting therapeutic benefits from interacting with gentle animals.
Instead of a traditional entrance fee, visitors are invited to contribute fruits or vegetables to feed the animals. Alongside donkeys, other farm animals and traditional farming tools are on display. Guests can walk through pastures and enjoy the views.
The farm offers volunteer opportunities to assist with donkey care and hosts special events, including the Traditional Donkey Ball. Visitors can also learn about the nutritional and skincare benefits of donkey milk and purchase related products as gifts.
