The Martinići Donkey Farm, located 20 km from Podgorica, is Montenegro’s first and only donkey farm dedicated to protecting donkeys from extinction. The farm combines nature, tradition, and conservation efforts in a peaceful rural setting.
Visitors can feed, brush, and play with the donkeys, learning about their role in Montenegrin culture, diet, and breeding practices. The Donkey Museum on-site highlights the farm’s work in preserving this species, which was once vital to rural households across the country.
The farm offers a special program for children with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, providing therapeutic interaction with the gentle animals. Rather than a traditional entrance fee, visitors are encouraged to purchase fruits or vegetables to feed the donkeys.
