The aim of Porto Montenegro is to become the premier nautical facility in the Mediterranean. The development’s management has already achieved a massive coup by successfully negotiating the relocation of the Golden Fleet from its berth in the South of France to the complex. The Golden Fleet, three luxury charter yachts and a seaplane, is one of the world’s most exclusive and prestigious in Europe.
As yachting becomes more popular and the size of yachts increases, the demand for berths is starting to outstrip supply. Located, as it is, in the middle of the Dalmatian coast, with the traditional cruising grounds of Greece, France and Italy nearby, Porto Montenegro is set to become the most exciting cruising facility to emerge in the Mediterranean.
Many nautical facilities suffer from a lack of repair and maintenance facilities and unfriendly tax policies. The former Yugoslav naval facility will use its existing infrastructure to provide onshore provisions and services to match the standards found on the most luxurious of super-yachts. The marina will feature 630 berths and a dry dock and repair facilities. Montenegro’s sailing-friendly legislation permits multiple changes to crew and passenger manifests throughout the year and the ability to pick up and drop off charters. Other benefits include tax and duty free fuel and onsite customs clearance directly from the moorings.
The deep-water harbour has, for centuries, been a boundary between east and west. Valued since the days of the Roman Empire, Porto Montenegro lies within the UNESCO World Heritage Bay of Kotor, Europe’s most southerly fjord and one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean. The 100 kilometres of unspoilt coastline and secluded bays run inland from the open waters of the Adriatic coast, while sheer mountains rise from the seashore protecting the line of charming medieval towns and villages nestled in their shadows. Few holiday destinations in the world can supply such a stunning backdrop as the lush mountains of Montenegro’s hinterland.
Porto Montenegro is open all year round and offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities, both locally and in the countryside beyond.
